Tom Brady is a true class act. I have to admit, I didn’t take the loss lightly. This is not the way I envisioned Drew Brees going out.
Rumors have been going around that this would be his last season. I don’t know what tomorrow will hold for Drew Brees. But he’s the best quarterback I’ve ever seen play the game and the list of quarterbacks I love is long and distinguished.
The one thing about that long list of quarterbacks is that it also includes Tom Brady. He’s a real class act. After the game, after getting a shower and putting on street clothes, he met with Drew Brees and his family. He tossed the ball around with his kids. It doesn’t get any better than that.
After the historical battle in New Orleans, Tom Brady will move forward to meet up with Aaron Rodgers of the Packers and we’ll see how far he can get this season. But I will tell you this, he made things happen in Tampa faster than anyone else could.
He didn’t have the greatest season and made it into the Wild Card by the seat of his pants. But it’s what he did with that opportunity that makes him a true hero. Tampa Bay hadn’t been doing good for years. I know. I live down here. The first season I was down here, they won three games I think. That was it.
The following seasons, they didn’t do much better. They were a team in need of some real change, something big. In walks Tom Brady and he brought Rob Gronkowski with him. That is an unbeatable combination and that winning spirit rubbed off on the rest of the team. Before long, Antonio Brown was on the team and the rest is history. They fought and scratched to get into the playoffs and now, here we are…watching them go to the Championships.
I wish them the best of luck! I’ll be rooting for them and we’ll see how far they go. If Brady brings a Super Bowl ring to Tampa this year, everyone’s going to have to admit he’s a true GOAT. Even if he doesn’t get that ring this year, the work that he’s done in Tampa speaks for itself. He’s one of the GOATs and knowing that we got beat by one of the greatest makes the loss a little easier to take.
P.S. If you can’t tell, I’m a Saints fan! Just putting that out there in case you missed that point.
